Esther's Clothing Gone

Esther's Clothing (at least that is what it was called at one time), has vacated their premises in the 200 block of West Main and there is a "For Rent" sign in the window.  After the state made them remove the side walk sign they had in front of the store, the owners never bothered to put any signage out, even on the illuminated sign over the door.  While word of mouth works great for getting people in a store, even it can only do so much.

  1. I'm wonder what retail store could survive in that location? Small, no parking, and bad signage? You would need to be selling something that made a lot of money per sale to make a living. Pot, gold, or software?

  2. The bakery next door is doing fine. Esther's once they lost their sidewalk sign, did nothing that I saw to let people know there were there.

  3. I wonder if the bakery is really doing fine? What is the metric for fine?

I wonder how much your 10 (12?) parking places are worth in annual revenue? I wouldn't let a friend rent one of those, no parking place, places.

Sorry, I have been involved with too many bad companies, bad business plans, bad results. I'm OK with failure, it just happens to good people sometimes. Goodness knows, it has happened to me.

A valid question is, can you run retail out of these places and clear $20k a year? $40k? If you goal is $60k of take home pay, I bet nothing will work in there.
