while SIUC remained flat year to year, John A Logan reported an attendance increase of 4.5%, Shawnee community College is up 6.8% and Rend Lake College is up 3.7%. granted those have smaller student populations than SIUC but Northwestern University has a student population of 23,000 and still saw a 7% increase in admitted students.
Maybe their buildings are in good condition and they don't waste money on free cookouts celebrating enrollments (!) when the October 1 extravaganza money could go towards much needed repairs at SIUC?
ReplyDeleteSome of the repairs needed at Quigley have been deferred for a decade or more.
ReplyDeleteYes, and one poster prefers that students entering for degrees do not get value for money but put up with non-repaired buildings and barely functioning equipment while putting all the money into sport as an "investment. Yet, after the Ball (Game) is over" may students ask why they came here for decrepit buildings, go elsewhere, and warn others not to come. This is why "boots on the ground" is much better than online distance students since they are not here to help the local economy.
