IDOT plans to eventually have a bike path running from Murphysboro to Marion. Through Carbondale would be the problem as I see it. We have bike paths on the east side of town and one runs fromthe east side to SIUC , though not in a straight line. Problem would be if IDOT wants to run it as straight through as possible, meaning continuing it on Main and Walnut as the road gets pretty light west of Poplar, not leaving much room to add in the bike lane. Maybe converting one of the three lanes to a bike lane and parking?
