Illinois Reform
While Sheila Simon was disappointed with the results of the reform commission, Charlie Wheeler says the glass is more half full than half empty. By Wheeler's analysis, changes that affected the executive branch were adopted, those that affected the legislative branch were not. No, the reform bill that was adopted isn't perfect, but, given Illinois politics, I'd say we came ahead.

ReplyDelete"Sheila Simon is truly baffling. She is "disappointed" in the reforms to the campaign finance laws in Illinois. But yet, she campaigned in Iowa and other states for Barack Obama. Obama refused the campaign finance reforms that had been spearheaded by his opponent John McCain. Instead, Obama "opted out" of the government finance for campaigns and ultimately raised almost $750 million. McCain, the Republican, accepted the $85 million from the government. Of course he lost.
Now Obama is naming Ambassodors all over the world who were his big campaign donors. What part of all of this does Sheila not understand?"
