More Video Terminals

City council voted to allow video poker terminals at truck stops within the city limits. Currently, the only locations to qualify are the Huck's on East Main and the Shell station on the west side of town. No idea if either one will apply for a permit or if they have the additional space they would have to provide for the terminals.
Revenues from the city's terminals have increased by about $25,000 from 2016 to 2017 despite 2 fewer units within city limits. Same number of establishments though and the growth in dollar amount collected indicates the market is not saturated yet.

More Video Gaming Parlours

The Lab approved 2 more B3 liquor licenses for video gaming locations in Carbondale at its Thursday night meeting, both on the west side of Carbondale, one in the plaza where Tequila's is located and the other back behind Jane's Consignment Shop. That brings the total to 4 stand alone gaming parlours and at least 2 more locations that have video gaming machines set up.

Video Poker and Slot Machine Growth

Good story on WSIU this morning about the growth of video slot machines in Illinois. Not sure how many of the 21000 are located in Carbondale but, given that 3 establishments devoted to them have opened in the last year within the city limits, know more about the impact of them on the state's economic is a good idea.
