Traffic Signals

The city is installing traffic signals at the intersection of Giant City and Pleasant Hill and should have them operational by Nov. 14. Apparently there have been a number of accidents at that location and the city hopes signals will reduce them. The most dangerous intersection in town, at least as far as I can tell, it Giant City and Hwy. 13. Signals have been there for decades but we still have one to two accidents a month.

Stop Lights

I know I have complained about this before but I really with the city would synchronize the red lights on Illinois and University better. It really wastes gas for the light to change, you drive two blocks, stop again, wait, the light changes and you drive another 3 blocks before having to stop again. All of those cars idling wastes a significant amount of gas.

Stop lights

Maybe it is just me but the stop lights on University and Illinois at Walnut and Main Streets  certainly seem to have annoyingly callibrated timers. it appears that during the day, the lights count down and then change as soon as the timer reaches 0. At night, they count down, then the red "hand of warning" appears and cars have to sit there for another 1-2 minutes. Just set the times to have the same duration both day and night as there is traffic on both 13 and 51.
