July 13, 2006, Ryan Livingston was murdered on the south side of West Walnut in the 300 block. For a number of years, flowers were left and the sidewalk chalked at the location but as years have passed, the memorials stopped. As the article notes, the case gets revisited from time to time and is not closed but barring someone coming forward, it is unlikely to ever be solved.

Murder
Geez. Another killing in town, this time last night over on S. Lewis Lane. As with most criminals, the alleged killers were not very smart as the police arrested them within a few hours.

$15000 Reward
The FBI's Springfield office is offering $10000 and the Carbondale Police Department is offering $5000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved in the murder of Keeshana Jackson on August 22.
Since there has been little mention of the case in the past couple of months, I assume the investigation is ongoing but behind the scenese. It does not look as if anyone currently lives in the house where the shooting occured.

More on Varughese Investigation
Additionally, the current investigation says Varughese's body was found with no shoes, the first time I remember this point coming up in the investigation, as prior police reports made no mention of him missing shoes
Coupled with the Molly Young case, the questions surrounding Varughese's death promise to keep troubling the Carbondale police department for some time to come.

More Fight Photos

Here are a couple of more shots from the fight that took place at 100 S. University on Nov. 22. The photo on the right shows onlookers in the ally behind the building formerly housing the Spotlight Bar and Grill, used for several weeks apparently as a spot for various groups to host private late night parties. The photo on the left shows the open back door of the Spotlight with people looking up at the fight, which is taking place behind and to the right of the photographer.
