Had a Veo representative stop by the store this afternoon. He is in town just touching base with the local Veo representatives, There are 200+ scooters in town and Veo has two vans dedicated to collecting and returning to central locations. apparently it is a profitable operation as Veo has not plans of ending the contract.
Daily (more or less) commentary on news and events in Carbondale and the Southern Illinois region, with occasional excursions to other locales.

Veo Scooters
Veo Scooters are back! Hurrah? They do provide a useful form of transportation but I see more people riding them just for fun rather than actually using them to get somewhere. Much like bicycles, they are only allowed on certain streets and bikeways in the city, which has provided this map to show where they SHOULD be ridden. Of course, where they should be ridden and where they will be ridden are typically different things.

Veo Scooters
We should see Veo Scooters vanishing from streets and sidewalks pretty soon. If I remember correctly, the company pulled them all off the city streets after the end of Fall semester and brought them back out around March or April.

Scooters
I thought part of the deal with the electric scooters was that Veo would assign a staff member to gather them up regularly and reloacte them to central pods. I did see a van with a Veo logo on it apparentlycollecting some on Washington Street by the glove factory last week but that is the only sign I have seen of Veo activity in the city.
I generally like the scooters. It is the people using them that are problems, not taking a few extra seconds to position them in locations out of the path of pediestrians or drivers for that matter.

Scooters
From what I hear, the seated Veo scooters and getting sequested away in locations off the beaten track as they are more desirable than the standing scooters. Have not heard how the scooters get recharged. I assume the process is somewhat like Wing in that people clooect and recharge the scooters in exchange for a credit to their Veo account or a credit to a designated bank or charge account
