Name Change

I see the owners have renamed Lewis Park "University Village".  I guess the name "Lewis Park" has too many negative associations within the community, though really, their target market is univeristy students which turns over every 4-5 years.  If they would just clean up the area, improve the management (from what I have heard, it was pretty lackadaisical in the past), the name wouldn't matter in about 6 years.  However, the new owners probably don't want to wait 6 years to see a turnaround in perception, hoping that the current reuptaion will fade in 2-3 years with the new name and people's short memories.

Lewis Park Sold

This didn't attract much attention when it happened but Lewis Park was sold last January to CH 18, a Delaware Limited Liability Corporation operating out of New York City. 269 units sold for $9.6 million.

Hot Dawgs! Opening

Hot Dawgs! will have its grand opening across from Lewis Park (821 East Grand)next Monday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. No indication as to what they are doing for the grand opening though. Do you get fre samples or just the opportunity to be one of the stand's first customers? And I thought they were going to locate at the old Winston's Bagels location in front of Gatsbys?

Lewis Park Incident

Last Saturday night, there was a fight among several men and women in the parking lot at Lewis Park, during which guns were fired. Still under investigation and police are looking for information.
