The University announced a third straight semester of growth, adding 163 for a summer total of 5025 students which is still pretty anemic given the days when summer attendance averaged 9000.
Last spring attendance was 10,525 and the university has a target of 15,000 by 2030, by my calculations about a 30% increase. Averaging a 5% increase per year which is about what the university has had during its recent years of increase, SIUC would reach 15000 by the 2031-2032 school year, one year behind its target.
Remember the past history of the Chancellor in Texas and just visit te campus, especially the library to find the invisible army of new students. Zero growth is expected in the State in 2026.
