I have heard from two different places that former C'dale Mayor Brad Cole, last heard from working as a member of Sen. Mark Kirk's staff, has left that position and taken one with Pepsi MidAmerica. Not too surprising, given that Cole had worked well with Pepsi during his time in office, even signing a 10 year contract with the company for the city, without allowing other companies to bid for it.
Your comment about the Pepsi contract, that wasn't put out to bid, is interesting. The way you write it, you seem to indicate it was illegal or at least unethical. You have real facts on that or just speculating?
ReplyDeleteWhat I have heard was secondhand. From what I undestand, the contract was about to expire and suddenly Pepsi gets it for another 10 years, with no opportunity for Coke to put in a bid. There may have been a bidding window, but if so, it was pretty short.
ReplyDeleteNo one has questioned the legality of the contract but the short time frame certainly makes me question the ethicality.
