Rita Cheng
The SIU BOT approved the hiring of Rita Cheng as chancellor yesterday at a salary of over $350,000 including benefits. I immediately thought of the banks, which are using the same argument the BOT used when justifying her salary: you have to pay a top salary in order to get or keep, top people. Apparently her track record as University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee convinced the BOT that she can turn around decades of declining enrollments at SIUC.

ReplyDelete1) Goldman was making $290,000 without benefits and $335,000 with benefits before this year.
2) Cheng is coming from UW-Milwaukee, not UW-Madison.
How much do other top officials at SIU earn? How does it compare to Duane Stucky, for example? I'm just curious.
ReplyDeleteIf you are really curious about the salaries, you can ask at Morris Library to see the salary book. They won't let you take it out of the library, but it shows how much everyone at the university makes.
