Gunfire

 Had several incidents of shots fired in town in the past week.  A couple of 14 year olds shot at houses on North Bridge and S. Beveredge. No one hurt but there was damage to houses.  There was also another instance of shootings over at the Fields.

West Mill Shooting

 Shooting on West Mill Street Saturday May 25 about 11:30 am which puts it right across the street from the University. No mention in the police message of any injuries so it appears it was "just" gunfire with no injuries as the release made no mention or any injuries or hospitalization.

Shooting

 Shooting on South Lewis Lane yesterday morning shortly before 6 p.m. Victim was treated and released and police are still  looking for the shooter. From the sound of it, the victim could or would not identify the person that shot them.

Also a knifing on S. Poplar last Friday afternoon about 12:30.  Again the victim was injured but not seriously enough to require hospitalition and the suspected assailant has been arrested. The two were meeting to complete a transaction set up on social media, when one pulled  a knife on the other. Once again, indicating it is a good reason to complete transactions such as this in a"safe space" such as the lobby of the Carbondale Public Safety Department, aka the Police Department. 

Shooting

 Another shooting at a party, this time on West College. One would thing these morons would know enough not to go to a party carrying a gun and that someone would realize that guns and alcohol do not mix. 

Still no developments in the West Cherry shooting, as far as I know. Does look as if the property remains empty. 

Parties

 Took a drive along Cherry and College streets this evening and saw no parties taking place. It did look as if the fraternity house at the corner of University and Cherry had something going on earlier in the day as there were a number of cups on their outside tables but no people visible. Last week's shooting appears to have put a lid on any outdoor parties in the area.

Multiple Shooters

 Multiple shooters in the Cherry Street Shooting case but police currently not getting much cooperation from those in attendance. I can understand if this was a case of a police shooting but this was someone in attendance at the party shooting someone else at the party. Police did not show up until  after the shooting was over.

As far as I can tell, no where near as many shots fired as in a shooting that took place in Champaign over the weekend. Victim was wounded and 50 shell casings found at the site.

Student Shot

 ASIUC student was fatally shot and three more people wounded at the party at the corner of Cherry an Beveridge Shooting took place early Sunday morning, which meant the party, which started sometime Saturday afternoon, lasted long into the night 

More Shooting

 At least this time no one got injured, only a house in the 500 block of South Poplar . With so many people buying guns, it is not particularly surprising that people want to use them.

First Officer Shot in Over 45 Years

Officer Trey Harris was the first Carbondale police officer shot in over 45 years.  The last time it happened was during a shoot-out by officers with members of the Black Panther Party back in 1970. The gun battle between the two groups took place at a house in the 400 block of North Washington and lasted over 2 hours.
