And Then There Was One

Looks as if Vape, Inc, which was located in Eastgate Shopping Center, has closed down or moved, leaving only one vape shop, of which I know, in Carbondale. At their peak, abut 3-4 years ago, Carbondale boasted half a dozen vape shops, 2 in downtown, Vape Inc. in East Gate, 618 Vape on East Grand and two on the west side. Now, only 618 Vape remains.

Chuckin' Clouds Gone

Well, that didn't last long. The Carbondale outpost of the Chuckin' Clouds Vape Shop chain, located at 715 S. University, has closed up as quietly as it opened. No idea if it moved to another location in town or if the owners decided having a Vape Shop opeing up less than a block away was too much competition.

Bully Juice Vapor Is

.... now the Vape Shop. It would appear that Bully Juice Vapor sold out to the Vape Shop as there is now a second Vape Shop in the University Plaza strip mall in downtown Carbondale, where Bully Juice used to be. This puts two vape stores, Chuckin Clouds and the Vape Shop within a block of one another. 

C'dale Vaping

Vaping has hit Carbondale big time, at least judging by the number of shops that have opened int he past year catering to users of e-cigarettes. We have 618 Vape on East Grand, Vape INC opening soon in the Eastgate Plaza, and The Vape Shop (oldest of the four) and Whisper Vape on the west side of town. From what I hear, all are doing quite well. Though cigarette usage is down nationwide, vaping is enjoying double digit growth.

Following up on yesterday's post about the Vape Shop moving and further showing the growth in the e-cigarette category, since regular cigarette sales have been flat for about a decade, 618 Vape  opened on East Grand about the beginning of December. With sales of electronic cigarettes roughly doubling every year, I would expect to see a third or even 4th shop to open in Carbondale in 2015.

Vape Shop

Another business has moved out of downtown. The Vape Shop, which sells electronic cigarettes and refills, had a location in the Campus Shopping Center net to where New Kahala Fast Foods used to sit. However, when time for lease renewal came, the business opted to relocate to West Main, in the old Subway building.  Better parking and, I would bet, lower rent.
