Gold Diggers For Sale

Noticed a "For Sale or Rent" sign adorning the recently closed Gold Diggers building (formerly the Blue Martin and the Social House). Whomever goes in there next will have to compete with the recently opened Street Bar in the old Pony/Club Traz location.

Thought it would be rather hard to fail with a business based on video poker and other gaming machines but guess I was wrong. Most of the other locations in Carbondale have a much smaller footprint than the Gold Diggers location does.

Gold Diggers

Not sure what hours Gold Diggers (located in the old Blue Martin/Social House location) is keeping, but it sure isn't the posted ones.  Posted hours are 5 p.m. to around 2 a.m. 7 days a week but the last few times I gone by there about 9 p.m. , the place has been locked up tight. Doesn't look as if the operation has shut down as everything still looks in place but no sign of life and no posts to the business' Facebook page since mid April.

Gold Diggers and Hollywood Lounge

Looks as if Gold Diggers and Hollywood Lounge both had soft openings.  Hollywood Lounge has been open for several weeks now and had maintained a fairly regular schedule of opening late in the afternoon, though I am not quite sure what the official hours are yet.  They appear to be doing business as several cars are parked in front of the location the nights it is open.

Similarly, Gold Diggers opened quietly about a week ago. at least based on the pictures on the business' FB page.

Looks as if the former Blue Martin on East Main Street (next to the still shuttered Pony) will reopen as Gold Diggers, with "Plenty of TV's for every sport, tons of gaming and of course hot girls with even hotter drink specials! "  Quite a transition from the former incarnation as a quiet upscale cocktail lounge.
