Payday Loan Shops
Happened to notice Carbondale is down to two payday loan shops, at least that I can tell, from the half a dozen or so the city had before COVID. Both are located in Eastgate Plaza, conveniently next to Little Vegas.
This is OT but people have noticed a For Sale sign outside Chancellor Lane's home and his wife may not have moved from Texas. Does this mean we may have the first Virtual Chancellor in SIU's history whom the BOT awarded a huge pay rise before Fall enrollment figures appear? Someone should investigate.
I was talking with a friend from the Univesity. Appears the Chancellor lives in St. Louis and spends the minimum amount of time in Carbondale that his contract requires and, as you point out, his wife still lives in Texas. I expect him gone within the next two years.
As the old saying goes, "Here today, gone tomorrow" - especially applicable to SIUC higher administrations. I wonder how long President Dan will be with us since university policy of old use to prohibit these early versions of "distance learning"!
