A comment on yesterday's post reminded me a major reason why SIUC decided to close the university today. Back in the day, 15-20 years ago, the University would clear sidewalks but not scrape, salt or sand them, and not close. This lead to a number of falls by faculty, staff and students, totaling over 200 after one snowfall. Lawsuits and medical bills likely led to the change in policy
