I thought we might be getting a convenience store/gas station at the intersection of Old and New Hwy 51 south of Carbondale, especially since I remember the concern about zoning in the area a few years ago. However, Dollar General has decided the spot is a good location for their third store in Carbondale. I guess the plan is to capitalize on traffic coming into town from the south. Truly a example of an isolated store as the nearest businesses are over half a mile away.
