Another legacy of the Rita Cheng era, SIUC's board voted yesterday not to appeal the ruling that the university bargained in bad faith with employees and will repay the $1.7 million it owes employees that it furloughed in violation of the contract with them.
Probably a good move, given the amount mounting an appeal would cost that this makes 0-2 in decisions against the university, this time by an unanimous decision from the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board. No need to spend more money and make it 0-3.
