The committee will have no direct control over the upcoming developmental plan for downtown as the city plans to hire a professional firm to write it, hopefully with input from the committee. Not sure why the city doesn't want to have someone from SIUC develop the plan as someone from the university would have a much more intimate understanding of the community than an outside firm.
